Williams and Partners Case Study

Williams & Partners Inc. and its predecessors have practiced forensic and investigative accounting for over forty years.  Bill Williams, Nick Angellotti and Rob Pellegrini, combined  have approximately 75 years of practical experience and knowledge in the accounting profession.

They are supported by Williams & Partners, Chartered Accountants LLP, a firm of over thirty professionals and support staff in auditing, insurance loss accounting, information technology, contracts, legislation and taxation.

Williams and Partners hired Mico Systems to become their I.T. provider in 1995.  Initially they were a Novell shop and converted to Microsoft NT 4 and then Microsoft Small Business Server in 1997.  They have grown in that time from 15 computer users to approximately 40, and from 1 server to 5.

Advancements in technology, specifically Microsoft Small Business Server allowed them to become more efficient and provide better service to their clients.  Moving to Microsoft SBS allowed them to use Outlook thereby providing a mail client with Exchange at the back end.  From a technology perspective this was the beginning of internal group collaboration, with Microsoft Office applications as a foundation.  It also allowed them to communicate more efficiently with their clients.

With the advent of the internet the next focus became security and implementing strategies to protect data integrity, implementing privacy policies and firewalls for the protection of corporate I.T. assets.

Document management using DocIT became the next priority at Williams and Partners.  This implementation allowed them to move towards a paperless office by creating electronic binders of client documents.

Our next phase of technological advancement with Williams and Partners will be the implementation of either Microsoft SBS or EBS 2008 leveraging SharePoint services, enhanced Exchange 2007 and Virtualization.  We expect to begin working on this project mid 2009.
